This is a personal councillor website. It is not an official Dunedin City Council website or service-request system.
The site records basic visit information so I can see which pages are useful. That includes the page viewed, the time, broad device size, referral information, and a one-way hashed version of an IP address. A hash is not displayed in the dashboard as an IP address and is used to reduce duplicate or obvious automated activity.
The private analytics dashboard groups visits by day, week, month, and year. It may mark visits as likely human where a normal browser session also shows interaction such as scrolling, opening a section, or clicking a link. This is a rough operational measure, not a statement about any individual.
If you use the contact form, the details you choose to provide are stored so I can read and respond to your message. A message may be forwarded to the appropriate Council contact where that is necessary to help with the issue. Please do not send confidential, legally sensitive, or highly personal information unless it is genuinely needed.
Article feedback is stored for review. You can choose anonymous feedback; in that case your name, email, and suburb are not stored with the feedback.
Surveys store the selected answer, an optional comment, a session identifier, and a hashed IP address to help prevent repeat submissions. They are informal resident pulse checks, not official DCC consultations or scientific polls.
The forms use basic technical checks to reduce spam and may use Cloudflare Turnstile when enabled. Turnstile is designed to distinguish normal browser activity from automated submissions with as little interruption to real visitors as possible.
Information is kept only for as long as it is useful for managing messages, understanding the website, or reviewing feedback and surveys. If you want to ask about information you sent through this site, use the contact form and include enough detail for the message to be located.
Links to DCC, YouTube, newspapers, and other external websites take you to services with their own privacy practices. This page does not control how those external sites handle information.
