VISION: Short Term Goals

I understand that most of the bigger decisions have already been made in as part of the 10-year plan, but I would like to think I will be able to make some small improvements on things such as the below:

Dunedin deserves immediate action on essential services, clarity from its council, and tangible results residents can see and trust. My initial focus will address the fundamentals: roads you can rely on, pipes that don’t fail, and council operations that clearly deliver accountability and transparency.

The very basics—good roads, reliable water services, timely maintenance—should never be in doubt. Our residents shouldn’t have to wonder when roads will be repaired or if critical infrastructure can withstand the next heavy rainfall. Practical improvements to these services will be my urgent priority.

Equally important is restoring confidence in council processes. Decisions will be communicated transparently, openly, and clearly. I’ll advocate for straightforward explanations so everyone can understand exactly how and why decisions affecting their lives are made. Clear communication builds trust, and trust is essential for our city’s progress

Supporting Dunedin’s local businesses and ensuring our economy stays vibrant is another short-term priority. Businesses are the heart of our community, creating jobs and opportunities. I’ll focus on practical measures to ensure council procurement policies are geared towards local providers first, keeping money circulating here at home.

My short-term vision is practical, achievable, and clear. Fix what’s urgent, communicate openly, listen genuinely, and ensure that residents see real improvements. Together, we can quickly build a foundation of trust, efficiency, and accountability, setting Dunedin on a path to a brighter future.
